Jeffersonville, New York is located in the west-northwest region of Sullivan County, about 2:30 from New York City. The quaint village, which has undergone an amazing renaissance in the past few years, is in the hub of the farmland areas of west county and also close to the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.

Jeffersonville was our first 'turnaround' village, and the upgrading of the village over time paralleled the bootstrap renovation of many of the farmhouses in the surrounding areas in the mid to late 90's. Today Jeffersonville is a bustling village with nary a vacant storefront. There's the usual assortment of restaurants, gift stores and galleries that mark a thriving second home destination, but Jeffersonville is also a 'working' village, with a pharmacy, grocery store and hardware store. Jeffersonville is also home to WJFF 90.5, our public/community radio station.

West of Jeffersonville between Jeff and Callicoon lies the Beechwoods, a few square miles of picturesque rolling farmland, very Norman Rockwell with lovely views. The Beechwoods is arguably the prime location in the county for folks looking for a farm-style getaway. There are seldom many homes on the market here, particularly with the panoramic western views that make the Beechwoods so special.

There are many other rolling farmland areas towards North Branch, Youngsville, over towards Kenoza Lake and down towards Cochecton.

This is not a lake part of the county, but Kenoza Lake, which is about halfway between Jeffersonville and Bethel Woods, is a smaller, upper end, non-motor lake development.

There are in-town houses in Jeffersonville, but this is a small village, so there aren't that many. There are some lovely Victorians occasionally on the market, as well as the row of finely detailed 'Kohler houses' in the Kohlertown section (but they're right on Route 52, so you have to give up some peace and quiet for the oodles of charm.)

Ted's, also on Main Street, is our breakfast, lunch and dinner workhorse restaurant with quite good food. Bridgewater Mercantile (next to Mullally's Pub), Global Home, Little Duck / Samba and the Rustic Cottage, on Route 52 outside of the main hub of town, are are all worth a visit.
