Now Search for Sullivan County Real Estate From Your iPhone or iPod Touch

The new Catskill Buyer Agency multiple listing search system comes with an associated iPhone app, so you can find the perfect house while you're walking down the street, waiting in line at Starbucks or bored with your dinner companions.

The myagent by IDX (click to download) app is more fun, frankly, than super-functional. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the full blown web version for serious searching.

But it does have one great feature. The map-based app is "location aware." If you get an AT&T signal and it can locate your position with the iPhone's GPS, it will show you all the homes for sale from the MLS in your immediate vicinity (when you're in Sullivan County.) Swoosh the map and refresh, and you'll see the listings in another part of the county. Passing a house with a "For Sale" sign? Press the pin on the map to get the listing details.

You can still use the app in the city (where your GPS will show you there, not here.) to search for property here in Sullivan County (not to search for property in the city.) When logging in, don't select "Use Your Current Location". The map will then center on Jeffersonville, and you can scroll and zoom in and out from there.

The app is tied to me and the Sullivan MLS, so if you're in the city and want to check out what property is for sale near you when you're walking down 8th Avenue in Chelsea, it won't work.

To get the app, you can either click here to go to this app's page on the iTunes store (it will launch iTunes on your computer) or from your iPhone or iPod touch, go to the app store and search for "myAgent by IDX". When you first launch the app, it will ask for an agent code. Put in my code 5776. This will direct the app to connect to the Sullivan County property database.
