About Narrowsburg, NY real estate
Narrowsburg, NY is located in the western part of Sullivan County, about 2:15 to 2:30 from New York City. The quaint riverfront hamlet is home of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Delaware Valley Opera, one of the few community opera companies in the U.S. The National Park Service’s Upper Delaware River headquarters is also located here.
Narrowsburg is Sullivan’s ‘hip, happening hamlet’, particularly among foodies with two top choices on Main Street, the Heron Restaurant that’s gotten a lot of ink in the NYC press and Gerard’s River Grill. Narrowsburg also hosts the hugely popular Pig Mountain Pig Roast and Veggie Fest every August, that’s a wet dream for locavores.
Pig Mountain isn’t the only festival in this party-loving hamlet. Riverfest in the summer and Eaglefest in the winter are also major events.
There are some lovely residential areas in Narrowsburg. The “Flats” is the area along the Delaware River, with a mix of Craftsman, cape, colonial and ranch style houses. A second residential area rises on the hill south of town, affording nice views from many locations.
South of Narrowsburg, along Crawford Road, is one of the few areas along the NY side of the Delaware River where houses sit right along the river, without a road between the house and river. There are also some ridgeline properties with panoramic views of the river valley.
The rural areas around Narrowsburg tends to be more wooded than open farmland. Many of the houses outside of the hamlet are on wooded parcels, offering privacy and seclusion. Weiden Lake, a lake community with houses on 5+ acres, is nearby.
You can get more information about Narrowsburg from the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce.
