Every once in a while a new property comes to market that hits on all cylinders for me. That’s the case of this totally cute lakefront cottage at Wolf Lake. It’s not big, just 1,313 square foot, with 2 bedrooms and a good sized loft for additional guest sleeping. But it’s been so tastefully updated, with a stone and clapboard facade, a new kitchen and a large lake facing deck. It just oozes that “On Golden Pond” aesthetic. It isn’t cheap — with an ask of $399,900, it’s at the top end of the range for smaller lake houses, but these renovated charmers carry a premium.
Wolf Lake is one of my favorite non-motorboat lake communities. The community works hard to maintain a rustic mountain lake feel, and owners also have use of 1,000+ shared acres for hiking, cross country skiing, ATVing and hunting, in addition to the main lake (plus a second lake reserved exclusively for fishing). It’s sort of like having your own state park. Plus it’s one of the closest lakes in Sullivan to NYC, just 78 miles from the GW bridge.
