It takes a lot to surprise this jaded and opinionated real estate hand. Before I walk into a house I can usually tell what the inside is like or how stylish (or more usually, not stylish) a house is. At Emerald Green, a lake community near Rock Hill dating from the 60’s and 70’s, a lot of the houses have dated interiors that would be perfect if you want to do a Brady Bunch nostalgia trip. Some can be even amusingly ‘over the top’ with details like gilt flecked mirrored walls and mauve lacquer built ins. So I was delightfully surprised with this house I saw there yesterday.
It’s a 60’s era ranch that’s been totally redone in an Asian/Japanese style. It has beautiful hardwood floors and woodwork, and a totally updated kitchen. The back yard has been landscaped as a Japanese garden. The house is in impeccable shape and there’s a two car garage. The icing on the cake is that it’s just a short walk to the Emerald Green pool and beach. The asking price on it is just $199,000. If you’re looking for something reasonably priced and have an affinity for Japanese-influenced design, this should definitely be on your short list. Click here to check out the listing.
