Move over, Hamptons. You’re not the only place with a jitney. This summer, the Rolling V Bus Company will be launching a trial run of a jitney service direct from Penn Station to the Delaware River Valley, with stops in Lumberland, Barryville, Narrowsburg and Callicoon. The schedule is for a Friday afternoon departure from the city and a Sunday afternoon return from Sullivan. However, I’m not totally sure about the times. The article in today’s Sullivan County Democrat said the return trip will leave Callicoon on Sunday at 5, but the Eagle Express page on the Sullivan County Visitors Association site lists a 2:40PM departure for the return trip from Callicoon. So they may still be working out the final details. The 4 trial weekends are June 26 & 28 / July 3 & 5 / July 10 & 12 / July 17 & 19.
The cost will be $40 each way, and no pets, bikes or kayaks are permitted.
I expect the service would be extended or expanded if there’s demand. So this needs our support.
