I was getting together with a couple of local foodie friends for dinner tonight, and they said "Let's go to the bowling alley." The bowling alley? For dinner? Yup. It's smokin' hot, and I mean that literally. Forget chicken wings and velveeta nachos. These folks are smoking up some GREAT barbeque. I had ribs, and they're some of the best I've had (and I'm a very choosy rib chomper) – the way I like them, crispy and falling off the bone. Everything's home made, from the corn pudding to the cole slaw to the blueberry pie. Total tab for 3 – ribs with a side, a couple of beers each and a piece of pie to share, was just $75. We were planning to bowl a line or two after dinner, but were just too stuffed. A definite 'must' for any barbeque lover.
The bowling alley I'm talking about is the Kristal Bowl, on Route 97 just south of Callicoon. Here's the link to their Facebook page. Don't pay a whole lot of attention to some dated menus you may find online (or even the menu link on their Facebook page; it isn't complete.) They're probably too busy smoking up great barbeque to keep all that online menu stuff up to date. Just go.
