Memorial Day weekend is my favorite of the three summer holiday weekends.Folks have come out of hibernation, weekenders have opened their houses for the summer, and the county almost transforms overnight. The icing on the cake was that the weather Sunday and Monday was postcard perfect.
Between showing appointments and drop ins at summer kick of parties, I was able to shoehorn in a visit to the Callicoon Farmers Market on Sunday. IMHO, this is the best farmer's market in the county. The biggest treat this time of year is fresh asparagus, and I loaded up for the week. Lucky Dog Farm also had fiddlehead ferns, which are a rare treat. Then there was the bread and croissants, ice cream, goat cheese and fabulous smoked trout. But it's the asparagus right now that's to die for.
The real estate side of the weekend was surprisingly busy. Surprising, because holiday weekends are usually slow. Not this year. I had appointments every day, and wrote up two offers (one of which is in a multi bid situation.) So it looks like it could be a very busy summer here.
