Well, friends, the public relations offensive in the battle for one of the coveted casino licenses is underway. Last week EPR Properties, the owner of the majority of the old Concord site near Kiamesha Lake, issued a press release announcing "Adelaar", a "new four season destination resort planned in Sullivan County, NY." There's also a new website for Adelaar with lots of photos and a site plan for the new resort.
Last year, EPR said it planned to go ahead with the Concord redevelopment with or without a gaming license (and even announced it planned to break ground in 2013 on the waterpark hotel phase of the project.) The latest release, though, is clear that the project is designed as a gaming resort, and there's no mention of any impending groundbreak — just a reference in the subtitle, "Permits in hand, new resort destination will come to market quickly."
